Dear diary,
I can't sleep at all right now, maybe I need a midnight snack but there's nothing to eat so I asked dad if he could run to the store or something. He said,"Sure just give a few minutes to get ready now go back to bed." I went back in my bed, snuggled up to my pillow and closed my eyes. Then when dad started his car I heard gunshots. After they stopped shooting and left I ran outside and saw my dad dead by a gunshot wound to his heart. I ran back in the house, grabbed the phone, and called 911. with the shaking in my voice I said,"My dad has been shot and is not moving or breathing."I was crying after I saw him down there dead. They said,"just calm down the paramedics are on their way." I said,"I don't think I will be able to calm down." After 30 min.the paramedics came and took my dad to the emergency room, I went too. They told me I was going to be put into foster care if they can't save my dad. After 3 days my dad didn't make it. When my dad's funeral was done I went home with my foster parents and they said,"Don't worry about your dad he will always be with you." When we got home I stayed in my room and cried myself to sleep every night for weeks thinking of my dad. After 6 months I decided to go back to school for futher education to get my mind off my dad. when I got to school my friends were all over me since dad's death but they wanted me to keep my mind off my dad. So we tried everything and they all worked then I listened to the advice that my foster parents told me in the car so I was more involed in what my friends were doing than thinking of my dad and the people who killed him. I love you dad ,always have, always will.
Monique, I am sorry for your loss. It is very brave of you to share your story online. I hope it in some way helps you to feel less sad.
